There is one truck that I've worked on a few times with the white face gauges with the flames on them.
The kid that owns it installed them so it can't be too difficult
One thing about it though is you cant read the odometer at all during the day.
I just recently put Nu-Image White Faced Flame Gauges in my '99 Expedition.
The entire process took me about 3 hours. I took some time to figure out a problem with my digital odometer which kept blacking out (found a cold solder joint.)
If not for the odometer work, I would have only had about an hour and a half of time invested.
Not too hard and the gauge face will come with fairly good instructions to install it. Just have a manual to get instructions to remove the cluster.
What year is your truck?
If you have any more questions, just post back to me and I'll e-mail you.
Yep, the odometer comes through bright and shiny, but it's digital and like I said, I had to fix a cold solder joint that was causing it to black out all of the time. (Ford service manager told me the only way to fix it was to get a new one.....I guess I showed him )
The odometer used to show up as green, but in the Nu-Image gauges I got, it is now blue and shows up very well. I also have all the side windows on the Expy tinted so it's not too much sun shining on the cluster.
I'll get a couple of picts posted to my gallery hopefully tonight.
Awesome, now I want to get the white face even more, Looks SHARP! um, I saw one advertise with a special tool to remove the needles, did you need that?
Yes, you need the special tool to remove the needles, but almost all kits come with that. Also, you can use a plastic fork if you don't have the tool (not as easy, but it will work.)
I'd say go for it, it really wasn't that hard to change them.
