Hello.
Was wondering if anyone can help me in changing the belts on a 86 crown victoria or point me to a similar forum for cars.it has a 5.0L 302 V8 engine. Thanks.
Also I will soon be looking for a SUV and was wondering if someone can recommend a good ford that the home mechanic can easily work on. changing oil or spark plugs etc. Thanks again.
I would reccomend going to the library and checking out a Chilton or Haynes for your car. Then you can have a refrence to look at while youre under the hood. Thats one of the first things i buy when i get annother vehicle. It saves so many headaches in the long run.
And as far as the SUV is concerned, that depends on what youre using it for. Ford has produced a wide variety of them, begining with the old Bronco, all the way up to the massive Excursion. Youll find strong supporters for all of them here.
I have the Haynes manual. Not much there. Just states the number of belts depends on the number of accesories, etc. No diagrams.
I am looking for an SUV big enough to hold 2 very large dogs. It would be great if I could do some of the maintenance myself on it. I found my wifes 1991 sidekick is easy to work on. I guess the newer models are harder to work on cause they jam everything together so tight?
Take a look at the broncos. They seem to have alot of supporters. As far as the diagram, i cant help you. What exactly are you needing to know about changing the belts?
Its been a while since ive dont one of those. I think a 1/2" set of sockets, and a prybar shoud do it. Shouldnt be any special tools needed. I think they were even standards then, not metric. Shouldnt be a big deal. Just a side note, have you changed the hoses lately? They should be changed when the belts are. Something to think about.
