Hi,
I just got my garage to look into what was going on with the locking gear on my F350 Super Cab 4 door.
The verdict was I needed a new Switch, and new switch was fitted and then it was found that all the activators were seized, and that the activators were overloading the switch thus burning out the switch, quite why this didn't blow a fuse I dont really know.
Anyway as these units are $78 each I wondered if anyone has ever successfully overhauled them and got them to work again, or ideed is there anywhere that they can be reconditioned, or is a case of new ones and thats it
At the moment they have all been disconnected which now makes manual locking easier.
Were yours held on by a single, very large rivet? I have the same problem with my back pair, but don't get in and out of the back every day so I can wait- will probably get some from the junkyard.
I had this problem on a Bronco II my wife owned. I found "Not Quite Exact" replacements at a local bone yard. They required some brazing (or clamping) the correct ends on. It took a little rigging but worked fine until we sold the truck (Cheap too!). I think these trucks have similar lock motors?
