Howdy,
The throttle on my 97 5.4L F250 has begun to stick in the mornings and whenever it sits for an hour or so. What can I do to free up the pedal? I would hate for my wife to trash it in the grocery store parking lot, (not that she drives it). Thanks
Don
Sounds like a cable problem to me. Disconnect the cable at the throttle body and check for binding. Operate the throttle by hand to see that it moves freely. There's something I would want to get fixed before it did me in.
I checked my cabel today and it seems to move as it should. I cleaned all of the linkage that I could see and it did not help the problem. It seems to be sticking or hanging up inside the throttlebody. Is there a way to clean it from the inside? Can I get to it from the air intake. I am new at this.
Don
YES, remove the intake hose from the throttleboby. You will see the blade in there. Oped it by hand and wipe the gunk out of the throttlebody where the blade seats and see how that does.

Pruchase some throttle body cleaner safe for fuel injected vehicles, do not use carb cleaner. Remove the air intake hose and spray where the throttle plate is while moving it. It is prob has some gunk in there, Try this if just wiping out does not work.
Howdy,
I got into the front of my throttle body today and got everything
moving freely again. While I was able to get a large amount of crud out it onto my cloth I am sure there is a ton more back inside that I couldnt reach. Is there any reason to remove and clean the TRB or was my hosing it out with a can of TRB cleaner adequate. I also noticed a moderate amount of dust getting by the air filter. Everthing felt and looked tight when I took apart the stock intake tube assembly. Is this normal?
thanks
Don
Mine was doing the exact samet thing and all I did was squirt some good ole WD-40 on the cable behind the peddle and at the throttle body and it worked great.
i have the same problem - the throttle sticks after the vehicle sits for awhile. read here that it's usually caused by a dirty or worn out throttle body. one tip - tap the gas pedal a couple times before you put it in gear. that will unstick it and prevent the jackrabbit starts.
