I am having a lot of trouble with my 351W. The engine is a 1969 351W. The trouble I am having is identifying the head size.....Where can I go to find out the exact CC. They only have 351 and 9BI3 casted on the inside part. The other one has 351 and 9B18... Can someone please help me. I need to know because I can't find a set of STOCK FLAT TOP replacement pistons..so I am going to have to buy aftermarket... I want to go about 10.5:1...and I need to know the exact CC so I don't over do it.....Please help me....
Well your head probably has C9OE stamped under it, on the intake port side and that means you have a 60cc combustion chamber, look at the bottom for a casting number. Unless your positive the heads have never been touched, you might wanna measure the chambers yourself or have them measured. later

I know that the first two mean 69 in C9OE, but what do the OE mean / stand for? As a matter of fact they do have C9OE stamped on them... How do you know they are 60 CC heads??? That sounds like a good size to me.... THANK YOU
The O is the vehicle and the E means it is an engine part. I thought it was 64cc but I've been wrong before. They were one size in 69, then in 70 they were a little bigger, maybe74cc and after that , they got even bigger with the emissions motors. I want your motor for my 69 Mustang, do you know where there may be another?
According to "how to build max performance ford v-8's on a budget" the C9OE are 60cc. I would still measure them, your shooting for 10.5:1 and that puts you borderline of using pump gas, and given all cast iron heads vary to some degree, you might wanna be positive of what you have, you will porbably have them resurfaced as well, so more numbers you have to keep track of, not to mention head gasket compressed thickness and deck volume. Good luck though, keep us updated on your progress
I'm trying to build a semi-radical engine for a 67 Mustang I just bought. It has a 4-speed and is NOT going to be driven every day. I build engines all the time but this is my first Ford.. I don't understand why I can't find a web site that has all the head sizes ready to look up...How could I measure the CC of the head? I know that the 69 is different than the other 351W's...It had factory Flat tops opposed to the semi bowl piston. It was a little higher in comp.....
Go to the farm store and buy the biggest syringe you can find. Fill the combustion chamber on the head with fluid and start pulling the fluid out with the syringe keeping track how many CC's you pull until it's empty. This will get you real close....
