Have 87 bronco with blown engine. Son wants to rebuild it, Buts we have no clue. Would like some help with Cam, Crank, lifters, cylinders heads intake any other specs that will help him. He's only 16 so we have time to learn . Thanks Tom
ok, you need to list 302 or 351 but i would comp up with a plan and then call comp cams and they will set u up with a cam and lifters. use the stock crank if its still good. and i would order stock replacement parts unless u have money to burn.
ok you should take the block to a shop when your down tearing it apart. let them determine weather an overbore is nessecary. Go with just enough to clean the cylinder walls like .030. Overboring doesn't add much power so don't get carried away. it fact it causes a motor to run warmer if excessive. Then if it needs overbored get the corrert pistons with say the .030 overbore to match and get new rings as well. You could get flat tops with valve reliefs due to affordability. i would take the heads to a shop as well because it is important that they get down right. Have them recondition the heads. Get some clevite main and rod bearings. I would use the stock intake. maybe you want to get the crank ground 10/10 but you should have that checked as well. And since rebuilding the engine get some new 19lb injectors. and call comp cams or crane or even ask the shop abut cam manufacturs and you should get the cam and lifters together. Stock rebuilds cost plenty of money and upgrades in power just add to the cost.
