Ill have to find and install my earlier model DVD and do some investigating, but I dont think you will find compatibility with a HEC module in an 98 or earlier F150 due to the early model having a completely conventional cluster and the Hybrid Electronic Cluster being dependent on PCM for inputs. You also have to consider your PCM is calibrated for your model where the Lightning PCM is calibrated for the Lightning powertrain. Conventional PATS communicates with the PCM not the cluster AFAIK. Your pats transciever may be of an entirely different configuration and would have to transmit to the cluster rather than the PATS module. Ill do some research but I think you would be better off just ordering a custom cluster for your model year. There are some really cool ones avaliable.
Thanks Racerguy.. I have been terribly busy moving to our new dealership complex, working weekends too, and this is my first weekend off in a good while. Im bushed.. LOL... Mom was back in the hospital last week too..
Ill try to help what I can but I have a large back log of things to do around the house too... danged honeydos' never end.. :P
Mom is recovering but she needs a pacemaker and its the one that requires a 6 hour operation, not the easy one. She has elected not to go thru with it so its all in Gods hands now how she makes it from here. She is 73. Poor old dad is 80 and its tough for him to care for her. I wish I lived closer than 500 miles away so I could help more.
The new dealership is a mess. 4 million dollars worth of crappy construction if you ask me.. sheesh But its not my money. At least we have all new equipment to break... LOL
Ok I reread this thread from the beginning and see I missed quite a bit. There is of course no PATS at all on the 98 F150. No Pats transciever. No HEC. No compatible PCM. You would have to rewire it all. I had misread your initial posts and thought you said you had also picked up a PCM. This is quite the mission and if you complete it you will be a hero. I being old and grumpy would never even attempt it considering all the afermarket options...or trade it in on what I really wanted...
