low oil pressure

low oil pressure

im looking to purchace a 67 ford w/352 .but i was concerned about the oil pressure . idling it was about 15 to 18 psi . driving range was about 35 psi ..is this too low or about normal for this engine

i would say thats fairly normal for a 352, it may be a bit on the low side of normal pressure, but i dont think its nothin to worry about

im use to the 351m & 400with higher oil pressure and thought maybe this would be to low and didnt want loose my rear on this deal

Mine runs lower than that at idle, but a tad higher on the highway. Go figure. Dont worry about it.

OBTW, what weight oil are you running?

dont know what weight oil is i just went and looked and drove the truck .
it is a 67 custom cab w/352 c-6 trans the guy wants 2000 for it i told him i was worried about the oil pressure and he said he would drop the price some

Hrm, he probably has 20w50 in it. I'd bring some 10w30 over there, along with a filter. Get cheap stuff so you're not out much. Volunteer to do a oil change while he watches. That way you know what it's got in it. Then drive it and watch the pressure.

I've been known to be paranoid though.
