Hello all this is my first time on one of these forums so I hope i'm doing this right. I have a question for anyone who can help me. I have 1996 F-350 with the 460 in it and I am trying to get better proformance out of it as well as fuel milage. I don't want to pump up the motor or anything like that I am looking for bolt on componets for this beast. I talked to Banks about a system for this truck but I am looking for someone who has tried this out a gas powered motor already. If someone has any other ideas for me I would be greatful for the info.
Hey Dick I thank you for the reply. I'll tell you Banks told me with there system I would get 30% more feul mileage and another 98 ft lbs of torque and another 50-80 horse. In your opnion is it bull?
Welllllllllllllllllllll.. I think I have heard some things about those kits and it wasn't negative but HP claims are alittle hard to believe..Go on their website and look around..I'm sure someone from hea will chime in tonight....Oh and better fuel mileage I don't know about 30% maybe 10%....
If you look at their charts you gain about 10 hp at 2000 rpm thats where you would normally tow something...I wouldn't do the kit for that I would do a super charger..
Hey, thanks alot for the info. I have crappy take off when towing my toyhauler and the top end just doesn't work well for me but killer midrange it seem. I was just approched today buy a guy to get a super charger. Will it help all through the power ranges? If so it may be the way to go. I'm also thinking about doing 3" exhaust it should help. I have a single flowmaster on it now maybe I sould go with two. What are your thoughts on that?
Opening up the exhaust will hurt you lower end...Stock should run the best for the design. Whats the weight of your trailer?
Super charger 3-4 thousand big ones but you'll go go go..
That motor should be fine I don't understand maybe your gearing is too high? What is it?
Well the trailer loaded is close to 10,000lbs and my gear ratio is 4:10's. I know the gearing should be fine. It is a 5 speed stick shift. Being a stick should be even better. I can't figure it out.
