ok, i got a new full set of bushwacker OE style flares on ebay for $165, but they have no instalation kit. does anyone know what i need to install them. i emailed bushwacker still waiting for a responce.
When I put my Bushwacker flares on, I just put them in the position that looked right and drilled through the flares into the fender. After the holes were drilled, pop rivets were used to hold the flares in place. No instructions came with the flares.
Make sure to drill the holes on the inside of the wheel wells and to use rust-proof rivets. My flares were out on in '95 and are still firmly in place.
Yes. I forget the exact sealer used, but anything that is waterproof will work.
After doing all the modifications, I spent a day under the truck painting every piece of bare metal with rust converting primer. Two days later I gave everything a coat of Rustoleum black paint. I know that you are not supposed to paint the driveshafts, but I did anyhow. Ditto all the nuts and bolts, brake drums and calipers. All of this really helps when you do work under the truck and don't have to fight rust-coated components.
Funny you should ask this, I just installed the same fenders on mine last Thursday. I'll scan the directions and post them...
For now the front flares just use the existing three screws in the front fender wells...perfect fit
The backs were more difficult as the holes that are factory drilled from Bushwacker did not fit my truck right and I wound up re-drilling the the holes in the fender flare to make them fit right. They use a clip that slides on the lip of the fender and the screw goes into the clip........
