1993 302 EFI engine questions

Ok I have had this truck for almost 2 years and the prior owner treated this truck like a car. With the drastic deference bewteen small car driving and the constant abusive driving I put the truck through the engine is suffering. My oil pan is rotting out with the gasket blown almost completely out on oneside and what looks to be the rear seal leaking not to mention the valve covers are also weeping... So with next to no power and a known blow by while excellerating up hills I am looking at either a crate engine or a rebuild. Now not being totally into the fine art of mechanics I would like to get some thoughts on what I should do. I am running my truck 20-40 miles a day and tow a 19ft boat or a 18 foot camper during most of the summer. I realize the towing has helped the engines demise. Now if i rebuilt what kind of a cam and such should I get to closely match the type of driving I use. Same would go for the create engine. Thanks
1993 F150 302 4x4 extended cab. 108899 miles. Only 2 rust spots and everything else is great. Thanks again.

i myself would do it or take it to a shop. I hate remen engines they tend to suck. Turn the 302 into a 306, get an rv style cam, go from there.

I wouldn't say that about reman engines. True, some do suck, but I don't think that is the general trend. There are some good quality remans out there, and there's always crates. I'd look for something to give a lot of low end torque for towing.
