7.5 vs 8.8

What year did ford stop using the 7.5 inch rear for the Ranger?

Ford still uses the 7.5" rear end in some Ranger models, as far as I know. But the 8.8" is used in all 4.0L Rangers, as well as most 98+ supercabs, and some others.

The truck in question is a '94 4wd with a v-6.
Does that help any?

You should have a tag on the rear, it will have the ratio and the size.

check your axle code, its on the tag thats on your drivers side door, i know for sure yours is a 8.8, unless someone swapped in a 7.5 when you were sleeping or somthing.
