I love stock trucks but every one needs something that stands out and says ill smoke ya but i have a stock as can be with my cash 60' F-100 and im making my other 60' a slight hot rod but all the luck to you
My 57 is staying with it's 272. It was a "Heinz 57" when I got the thing. Diffrent bed and tranny, but the body looks stock and is going to stay that way. Welcome aboard, we need all the 57-60 trucks we can get.
anyone know where i could pick up a manual for my truck. the nearest i can get locally is a '61 Van.
oh yeah, also thought of something i don't want stock. i want to get rid of my vacuum wipers. anyone know where i can get some electric type that bolt in? short of that i need the correct switch and cable to turn them on....the cheap choke cable i put in today will turn them off fine, but won't push hard enough to turn them on. bummer.
I believe we of the Orphan Years Trucks '57-'60, seen as how we are rather special breed of cat, should have our own Forum here all to our own selves by spliting off & having a '48-'56 & '57-'60 Forums.
Every time I come here the majority of the posts are dealing w/ '56 F series trucks or earlier & it becomes extremely frustrating when that's all there is to read about.
I've a '58 Mercury M-100 Truck & I've been around since 2000 & I'm not attempting to sow discontent , but at this present time I could care less about anything to do w/ the "Popular Crowd" years trucks '48-'56.
When I find the '53 M-100 for Lady Flashman fine, but untill then.......

Pretty much stock, as long as you keep in mind that the uprade I'm looking at, 262 I-6, uses the same 215/223 I-6 style block w/ Merc-o-Matic.
No cutting, welding or butchering up anything under the hood or frame, just bolts right into place for a bit more umph.
She's my Dailey Driver to used as intended to haul things about when needed & off roading when neccessary, but I'll be rather carefull w/ her as well.
She's the only '58 M-100 in my area so that makes her all that much more special me, other than the fact I'm 3th generation owner of her.

new guy on the site. i have owned and/or driven 3 classic ford trucks in my time. a 1952 w/a 302 from a t-bird, a 1954 original 223 4spd, and a 1967 w/a 352.
those all had the original set up (engine/tranny) with the exception of the '52. i recently acquired a 59 (hence the handle) and i have NO intention of pulling out the 223 and 3spd. after looking at a lot of posts, am i the only person who doesn't intend to yank the original engine?
in fact, i plan to make the truck's ride height normal, use the original suspension and drive the truck and use it like a truck. i have no problem w/people who use their trucks as sunday drivers, but for me it must be utilitarian or it just won't work out.
