Talking Greetings

hello;

new guy on the site. i have owned and/or driven 3 classic ford trucks in my time. a 1952 w/a 302 from a t-bird, a 1954 original 223 4spd, and a 1967 w/a 352.

those all had the original set up (engine/tranny) with the exception of the '52. i recently acquired a 59 (hence the handle) and i have NO intention of pulling out the 223 and 3spd. after looking at a lot of posts, am i the only person who doesn't intend to yank the original engine?

in fact, i plan to make the truck's ride height normal, use the original suspension and drive the truck and use it like a truck. i have no problem w/people who use their trucks as sunday drivers, but for me it must be utilitarian or it just won't work out.

thoughts?

sean

I'm going all stock! Although I can't say I will be using mine the way ford intended it to be used. It's all personal thing, but I like'em all stock myself. Anyways, Welcome to the board! Stick around and post a little, -4speed

I feel for ya. I have the stock 223 and 3 on the tree and shes gonna stay like that. My '60 is strictly utilitarian i use it to haul quads, leaves, firewood. Dents are cool they add character... Check out my gallery and see a face only a mother could love.

Welcome, Sean. I, too intend on keeping my 58 F-100 stock with it's 272, 3-spd. Well, aside from the options/mods that were available in that era only. Simple stuff like headers, 2 barrell, etc. Keep 'em runnin.

Greetings and welcome.
I wasn't a 6 cylinder fan at first, but now that little 223 is a torque monster....almost. I pull my 18 ft fiberglass boat with my truck.
I'm keeping the 223 mileage maker engine, the straight axle, the height and i have driven it most of the winter (heater barely heats)

whew!

hey i sure am glad to not be the only one!

i sure like that i can fix most any part on the truck....and everything is serviceable...unlike the modern part swapper mobiles.

unfortunately, my truck gives me plenty of opportunity to show my mechanical prowess...

it'll get there eventually, though.

anyone know why so many people shave the doors off these things? mine was like that when i bought it, but no door poppers!

Create your gallery when you get a chance so we can check out your truck.Perhaps they were trying to make the truck have a smaller appearance. They do have a good size cab.Everything on these old trucks seem to be easy to work on or get at to fix.Good luck with your project.

Welcome aboard ! Great to see that I'm not the only one with a 57--60 pick-up. Stock or hot rod, they are a good looking truck.
I have a 57 F-100, Much modified, but thats why Henry made more than one.

Someone switched my '60s three-on-the-tree with a four speed years ago. I'm stickin' with it and my 223. I'm going to stay mostly stock, it's a daily driver and plaything, but I'll probably put a stake bed on it in the near future.
