I thought it was the 510 watt system offered on the tremor ranger, but there's really no info on the brochure. I ordered it on my Lariat ($250) - anything is better than the stock system, but what does it include? Thanks
You get seven speakers instead of four.
also the six disk changer is upgreded ( has more features).
The radio head is 80 watts . it has a sub rated at 90 watts.
your price of 250.00 is only for the audiophile part. You must get the six disk changer in adition to it.About 250.00 more.
The final price is about 495.00.
But you must get it becaust it is great.
Thanks Mike - I'm looking forward to the whole thing. I've had a 2000 F-150, 2001 F-250, and I have a 2003 Ranger, but this will be the first, loaded-to-the-top Ford. It's my 10th year in business for myself, so I'm treating myself to a real "boss's truck". Thanks for the info, can't wait. (should be here in 6-8 weeks.)
i agree with Dr No. If you want big time boost to your bass, then for sure buy the cheapest system ford has and retrofit it to meet your needs. But for most mainstream users, the audiophile is great. You have to buy the 6 disc changer to get the audiophile system (total cost roughly $600) but it is well worth it in my opinion. It sounds great and you would spend about the same (or much more) for a comparable system at a local sound shop. Why not get a very high quality system that is factory built and factory warranted? (i hope ford doesnt see all these posts praising the audiophile and decide to "decontent" or dilute the quality of the system) IMO, the audiophile is a valid reason to choose an STX or Lariat over a competive truck if you prefer a factory sound systems that really delivers. I do wish ford would expand the audiophile availability into the XLT series.

Does anyone know if the lariat comes "pre wired" to accept an amp? Reason being is that I dont have the audiophile opt, but do have a couple old 10" subs and an amplifier.. ..It would be nice to hook those up without pulling up a ton of carpet, drilling through the firewall etc to wire the thing up...
Went with the audiophile. Love it. It's got good kick from the sub and clear clean sound in the rest of the range. Road noise, what road noise? Is the engine running? Did a bomb go off? I didn't notice.
If you don't want to buy the whole system, you can order a sub and amp through ford. It is the same sub and amp in the audiophile. It is $324 and some change. I had someone install it, they had to boost the 6disc head beacuse it wasn't as powerful as the audiophile head. The part has great sound in my extended cab. Hope this helps.
I was amazed at the clarity of the audiophile system on mine. My last truck had an Alpine stereo and infinity speakers (no sub though) and with the sub the audiophile blows it away. I had not intended on paying for it when I got around to ordering mine, but ended up buying off the lot cuz the truck had everything I wanted plus a few extras, like the Audphile Sys, and well, it was there, with only 7 miles on it, why wait for an order?
aahh, you guys need to clam up. My order got #&$*ed up and didnt come with audiophile. *****! Its making me sick to hear you guys rave about it. Hey LSUFX4, where does the factory sub go and how did they boost the head unit? This could be a fix for my ills.
The sub takes up all the room under the 60 portion of the split backseat. It comes all enclosed it is a great part. The guy that installed it put something to boost the power of the 6 disc normal radio head, who knows what, it is all smoke an mirrors to me. But i just had the 6 disc in dash with the 4 speakers up front and two in the back, with the addition of the sub and amp the sound is perfect. When you buy the part, however, ford has not made a connector to buy to hook up the amp so the guy that put mine in made his own with the ford wireing diagram. Just ask the dealership who does thier audio stuff and make then get you thier price on the work, it is what i did, because i wanted the audiophile system and they didn't have one on the lot and i wasn't going to wait to order.
i'm gonna call my dealer and get them hot on this!! Its really bothered me that I ordered the truck with it and for whatever reaon, or who-evers screw, why should I pay the price. LSU if you have the part numbers that would be greatly appreciated!!!
You know, the only thing the audiophile lacks is a variable crossover control for the sub, or at least some sound level adjustment. Sometimes you feel like a thump, sometimes you don't.
Also, is it me or is the "Ambiance" feature just about useless? As a backporch musician, I feel I have a pretty good ear, but I have not been able to notice enough of an effect to warrant the "Ambiance's" existence. Maybe it does something for DVDs?
