Question on tires
Hi,
Could I pleae have some info on tires. I have a
2000 F350 V10 lariet LE 4x4 dually with a 4.30 rear end.
I bought this truck based on the information I read in previous posts.
Great Truck!!!!! thanks for the help and wisdom.
The tires have 20 K and I have to start looking at new ones. Maybe 20% tread left on them. I read in previous posts that increasing the size of the tires will increase gas milage. I know it will also decrease towing capacity but I am not too worried about that. What size can I go up to? Is it worth it?
I will be doing alot of traveling in this truck. 1000-1550 miles at a shot. Sometimes towing a camper most times not. Any recommendations?
Part two. I looked at the sticker in the door jam and it did not have anything under the axial section. The metal tag attached to a bolt on the differential had 43-10 on the top line and 4.30 under it as I stated in my previous post. I am assuming I have a regular 4.30 rear end. Any other things to check like the VIN? What diget would I check? I would think this truck would have a LS diferential.
The first thirteen letters of the VIN are
1FTWW3359YEE3.... What do I have?
I didn't get a owner manuel or any records.
Thanks for your help
Any recommedations?
Man, a dually, you got me! You have to worry about those two tires out back rubbin' together.
>>Is it worth it?
Depends. What are you trying to accomplish? Better mileage? I'd say yes to that. But you'll lower it's towing PERFORMANCE! A strange thing to do on a F350 Dually. If the tires have the same weight rating as the previous tires you capacity shouldn't go down (that much anyway...)
>The first thirteen letters of the VIN are

1FT = Ford, USA completed vehicle
W = 10,001-14,000 GVWR with Driver & Passenger second Gen. air bags
W33 = F350 Crew Cab Dually 4x4
5 = You got me! It should be the engine code Your V10 = S
9 = Check digit (not you, that's what it's called)
Y = model year 2000
E = Made in Kentucky
Last 5 numbers are the vehicle build sequence #.
About the only chance you have of increasing MPG with tires is to get taller and skinnier ones then keep them near max air pressure. I don't know what size you have on the truck now, but 235/85R16E is a factory size that is available.
This is a great site with alot of good tech stuff as well as some fun
debate.
I love the truck. The first thing every one says when they see it is " Thats a big truck" The second is always "how much did it cost"
I never answer and let them wonder. Anyway Thanks
