Mr. Clean Autodry

Has anyone tried this Mr. Clean Autodry product? If it truly does what they claim (spotless drying without any wiping or blading) I'm gonna be a buyer.

Not one for spending money on gimmicks but about 6 months ago someone on this forum said that a good way to limit the spots on your vehicle is to do a final rinse with the nozzle sprayer off.

Take off the sprayer and hold the hose up over the the roof and then hood and then sides etc. and let the water stream off the body. You will find the water sheets off (even with a new wax job). This is not perfect but it reduces the spots quite a bit.

I even do it on the wheels to reduce spots.

I live in the MD area and I can't wait for warmer weather to get all of the crud off. If you live in a warmer climate and can try this. Please do and let me/us know what you think.

Yeah, I saw the TV ad and thought, "gee I'll have to try that when it gets warmer." Since that won't be for AT LEAST FOUR MORE MONTHS, I was hoping someone from the tropical rain-forest areas (you know, like Virginia) could give this thing a try and see what you get. If it ruins your paint, please don't blame me!

I'm kind of skeptical on that stuff too. If it were me I wouldn't use the soap, just the water filter so I can be able to get rid of all those chemicals in the water.
Another question too, since I live in an area where they are building new houses I got a TON of dust flying around outside constantly, it's maddening. Now lets say I just rinsed off the soap with the filtered water and left the water on my truck to dry, wouldn't the dust particles collect on the water and leave spots? I mean even if I didn't live in a dusty area wouldn't dust just collect on the water and still leave spots.
If this stuff really works like it says then I will be a lifetime customer of this product. I hate using towels because no matter what they always leave tiny, tiny scratches on my black paint and after time my paint looks real nasty. I need this to be my miracle product.

You bring up a good point which leads to an idea for an even better product. Why not just be able to buy the water filter to stick onto your hose for rinsing. I believe the whole autodry system is based on the "ionized" water rinse. Although they claim it's a specially formulated soap I bet it isn't much different from any good quality car wash soap. I have rinsed my truck with soft water which elminates many water spots but it still needs to be chamoised (sp). It's just hard for me to imagine being able to rinse and walk away and be done.

I use the autodry product on my Harley Ultra and my new truck. Does it leave a spot-free rinse? NO! Does it help reduce spotting? YOU BET! I live where we have hard water and this product helps reduce spots a great deal. My truck is solid black so it really show spotting. I usually blow-dry my Ultra and that also helps reduce spotting. But above post it correct, you still have to use the chamois.

But for $20 at Wal-Mart, it is worth the price of admission.

I use the product and feel that it is great. it makes washing the car much more simple by eliminating the need to use a bucket and dry the car. The filter does what it claims to do and removes hard water spots by 90-99 percent.

Hey guys just brought home my new F250. Washed it with Mr. Clean AutoDry that the girlfriend bought for me. Worked out great. No different from a good handwash and not a time saver but it worked better than I thought. Anyways i think it is worth $20 if you dont want your arm to feel like it about to fall off after washing your truck. Hope this helps you guys out!

Ionized water? come on. Filtering your water will remove the hard water spots. How long does the filter last? Sounds like snake oil in a hose.....

Get yourselfs a nice soft bristle brush....no need for washing with a sponge......I use that surgical squegee to dry it.......as far as the filter for hard water spots.....makes all the sense in the world to me except for one thing....i have a water filter for drinking water....I go through about one a month filtering a gallon of water at a time.....when you wash your truck how much water do you use....more that you think I bet......20....30.....40 gallons......so how long before the filter is wore out and needs to be replaced.....and at what cost????

I've read numerous posts on different sites about this. Its been about 50/50 for it working. Some get streaks, and spots, others not. You get what you pay for.

Not to get off topic but I used by gas powered leaf blower on my truck after washing. The air gets warm after running the blower for about 5 minutes. I kinda felt like Bill Murray in Caddyshack....It worked ok but the neighbors must have thought I was drunk. The funny thing was that I saw the guy down the street doing it a few weeks later. LOL

This subject was discussed a while ago, it seemed it was preffered to us an electric leafblower.
I have a gas one that is also a vacuum, if I used it to dry my truck I would possibly be blowing any dust and dirt that I picked up in the yard right into the paint.
Just food for thought.

Thumbs up

Just used the Mister Clean to wash the caddy and the F350 Long Bed Crew Cab. It worked exactly as advertised. No spots or streaks, even the sides that were facing the hot sun. The starter kit is supposed to do 3 washes but I figure that's probably 3 Hondas. I had just enough soap to do my 2 vehicles and the filtered water was just starting to not sheet off as well as I finished.

Since I've never minded washing the cars but hated drying them I give Mister Clean a big
