HI, I am thinking about swapping out my 5.0 liter for an inline six...I have a 92 F150 e40d tranny , 2 wheel drive,,,,any help out there would be appreciated..what do I have to switch,,,,exhaust,,computer,,wiring,,, I am looking for a 300 six,,,the same year as my truck,,,will this help.. ??
Thanks,
Larry M.
I can get a 1995 inline six,,, complete with alternater, pumps and brackets for $600.00....this is from a crashed 1995 truck, with only 60,000 miles on it......is it worth the trouble ?? need something soon
$600 ain't bad... depends on what you would prefer as an end result. That I-6 has better low-end torque, but the 302 holds better horsepower at high rpms.
If you like the idea of the strong bottom end, then it might be worth your trouble, esp. for the price.
But if you don't want to lose the high end of the V-8 then I would shop around for another 302 (easier swap) or upgrade to the 351. The 351 would outperform both engines in all categories
Thanks,,,but I am looking for the tech. advice as what is needed...I ain't looking for a conversation on what is better...I know you mean well,,,,but really looking for how its done and what is needed
Thats what I needed to know ...thanks Mattsbox...this is from a 1995..and I have a 1992....both are running with the E4OD....what are the buzz boxes ??/...so its the motor complete,,,the computer,,,,exhaust...and towers,,,I reallyappreciate it,,,thanks,
Larry
P.S. ...Mattsbox....you say the wiring into the cab is the same for both engines ,,from 1992 to 95,,,am I reading that right...I hope so,,,thanks again
Yep, thats gonna be the same. Buzz boxes are the random control modules. Things like the throttle cable, brake booster, that kind of stuff, they are interchangeable.
Oh, by the way. My truck is a 1994. if your truck in the 92-96 range. I could probably buy your wire harness, computer, and flywheel if you want to sell it.
I've already got a 302 but need the flywheel, computer and wire harness
