Larger tires

I'm thinking of going from my 275/70/18 tires up to 285/75/18 size. I'm sure that I'll have to have my speedometer reset, but my real concern is if I have to put the original size spare tire on in an emergency...will this mess anything up in the drive train?!

Anyone have experience with this situation?

Thanks, Larry

You will be just fine with whatever size spare comes stock.

No you will be fine for a short distance. Just don't use your elocker if you have it.

What superrangerman2002 said... And I would avoid locking in 4WD if you have to put it on the front for that short period of time.

I wouldn't. The tires are close to the same size. The front differential is open. Not seeing a problem here.

Tires are 8.4% larger... I like to play it safe. You can't make a tight turn in 4wd with both hubs locked. That tells me I would not want to drive a long distance with one tire larger than the other.

Just my opinion... in an emergency I'd drive in 4wd and take my chances no doubt.

You'll be fine. Could go a little bigger if you want.
I'm running 295-70-18, plenty of room.
