I have 2003 SD 4X4 CC and I am hearing squeak, squeak squeak that seems to be speed related (not engine RPM related). Truck only has 10000 miles. Anyone know what this could be?
The front inner seals can make a racket. Is it just in 4wd???
Maybe not huh I see you live in texas. Also the front springs can make alot of noise when you go over small bumps, I think there is a TSB on that one..
I have the same problem, very squeaky front springs. It isnt the drive train, because you can make it squeak by jumping up and down on the running board while parked
There is a Ford TSB on it, but I can't get anyone at the dealer to tell me the right place to lubricate.. They just say, "Yea there is a bulletin on that", When you ask them what to do, they just say "it is real hard to stop"
Any one have any ideas??
Mine does the same thing ('03 F250 FWD V10 CC). Starts about 7-8 mph and gets faster with speed. Sometimes stops at 50-60 mph, sometimes doesn't. I put it on the lift and let it idle in drive. It seems to be coming from the drive shaft. I have read a few threads on some sort of mis-alignment in the center drive shaft bearing on '03 models made early in the production year (which mine was). Any other info. would be much appreciated.
Check your tailgate...I'm not kidding. Walk behind your truck and push up and down on your bumper. I had a squeak I couldn't figure out...thought it could be bearings, etc. Until I drove with the rear window open and figured it was coming from the rear end. Pushed up and down on the bumper and low and behold...squeaky tailgate. Shot of WD-40 fixed it and it hasn't returned since.
My '03 CC FX4 makes the same noise. Not springs, it's definitely speed related and seems to come from rear of truck. I think it's the shaft or rt. rear wheel? Any other ideas? Is there a TSB on it?
I had a problem that seems related. It turned out it was the carrier bearing in the rear drive shaft. There is a TSB on it and the dealer gladly replaced it. I hope this helps.
I know what you mean. The squeak doesn't cycle as fast as the drive shaft turns. That makes is confusing to diagnose. Last night, I replaced my center carrier bearing and the squeak stopped! Cost me $80 for the part at Ford and about two hours of time for the fix. Unfortunately, I am having some new rattle noise, which I hope is not related to way I installed the carrier bearing.
Glad to hear that it was the carrier bearing. On mine it almost sounded like a siren in a distance. The first time I heard it I was checking my mirrors to see what was coming behind me... Anyway glad that helped.
