Twice in the past, on a below freezing day, I popped them loose while scraping the ice. Didn't take hardly anything to break the tape loose when it its hard as a lollipop. Then it won't stick worth a chevy again, had to buy special tape and re-install.
I got the type that slide into the window jam so you don't have to use the tape and mess with the paint. They have served me well they are 3" to allow you plenty of window crank for fresh air or throwing out smokes. Ythey also angle away from the truck to keep drips from coming inside. prety nice set and worth the little extra cash. LIFETIME guarntee tooÉ
Yep, Weathertech is the way to go. Don't install them under 50 degrees or so. I installed mine on a nice 70 degree day..let the truck sit in the sun for several hours with the windows shut...I think that helped them seat. The instructions tell you to leave the windows closed for "X" amount of time..but I think the sun helped also. No road noise..and it's nice to be able to open the windows 2-3 inches without having to worry about getting all the switches wet. A friend of mine got his mirror switch wet one too many times...stopped working..had to replace the switch. He has Weathertech visors now.
I've had 3 sets on 3 different vehicles...no problems. 5 seconds to install or remove, they work great. If you don't install the front correctly they cause problems with window seating right.
Yah I have the same problem with my 99 250, 2000 F350and 2004 F250 The trucks are great but the dorks at the drawing table real messed the one up well maybe they thought it would never rain.
