93 explorer surging at idle

93 explorer surging at idle
I have a '93 explorer 4x4. It's a 4.0. I just got it, and we've noticed that the engine surges at idle. You can even see the rpm's jumping. What would cause this?

I'd pull the codes and see if anything surfaced. I'd also be suspicious of a dirty IAC solenoid; they are cleaned fairly easy.

It could also be the TPS (throttle position sensor). If so, the codes would indicate that, however the CEL would not necessarily come on. Pull the codes..

I forgot to mention, if you have an Autozone near you they seem to like to pull codes for free in anticipation that you will buy the parts from them.
