Post LIFT KIT....? LEVELING KIT....? JACK IT.....?

Ok guys,,, Now that my Superduty is almost paid for ( 2000 lONG BED SUPERCAB 4X4 5.4 5SP 4.10) I am ready for the lift kit..!
Done lots of motor mods, got the wheels tires and the horsepower to go with it just not sure what lift kit to use. Money is an object for me being the poor fishing guide that I am,, But with all i have invested whats another 500 or 600 bucks..
With 35's would a 2.5" leveling kit be good enough? Or maybe a 4" rancho lift...? Ride is another big factor, as Is from the factory the girlfriend complains my truck makes her chest hurt ( GOD BLESS WELL ENDOWED SKINNY WOMEN) So that ol bounce bounce has got to go.. So how bout you experts give me a little advice and share your experiences with me.. I should be able to do the install myself If i can ever find the time so that will save a few bucks too,, 4 Wheel parts has a special now on the skyjacker lift with a freee install....... But how good is a skyjacker lift...? Questions QUestions and more Questions,,, Somebody please point me in the right direction.

I just took 4WheelParts up on their free skyjacker deal. I got the 6 inch with 315/75 XTerrains mounted on Welds. Total out the door was just under $2900. I have done a lot of research on skyjackers, everyone seems to be pretty happy. Not much spring sag, the only complaint is they are a little stiffer than stock, which I can deal with. Fabtech makes a pretty good lift, but I've heard their springs sag a little over time. 4WP isnt the best place to have an install done, but this kit is pretty simple hopefully they wont screw it up, make sure to inspect it good. If you have the right tools you can definitely do it yourself. Good luck

I am running the Jack-It 2.5 inch levelling kit with 35's on 16x10 rims. I haven't had the first problem with anything. The springs they use are actually SkyJacker springs. I did the install myself on a Saturday. It took all day but it was worth it. The pics in my gallery are with the 35's before the lift. I am hoping to get some with the lift on it this weekend.

So how much is the jack it lift if you do it yourself,, I have been researching this lift kit deal for a while now and that jack it lift seems hard to beat.. I wonder if there is adequate clearance with the leveling kit and 35's when you go off road,, I have been known to take mine through the toughest terrain mud and etc, is it possible for the 35's to rub? Some say the only way to keep them from rubbing is with the 4" lift.. Dont know if my girlfriend could handle a much stiffer ride,,, then again she says that rough riding truck of mine not only makes her chest hurt but makes her h*rny. Hmmmmmm.. Anyway back on track here i have to wonder if maybe the 4" would be the best way to go,,, Hate to do the 2.5" thing and then regret it.

MRBASS,

I'm in the same "boat" you are (fishing guide reference)
I have the snow plow package on mine, and I tell ya this thing is level!! BUT I hate to spend $800 on 35" to find out I need to stick another wad of cash in it for a 4" lift.

If you find something out..let me know!!!''

if you actually wheel your truck, the leveling kit is not what you want.... they do rub slightly and will cause body damage if your wheeling. for a street truck the leveling kit works great and looks great!

i'd suggest for you to get a 4" to 6" lift kit to run those 35" tires.

as has been pointed out. 4 wheel parts is running a deal on the skyjacker kit and has free installation when you buy... so it may be a good deal for you since installation prob runs in the neighborhood of 500 - 600 dollars.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 07-Mar-02 AT 09:55 PM (EST)]Hey guys, as I posted above, I am running the leveling kit with the 35's. It is true that if you put the truck in some serious twisting then the tires will rub. If this is your plan then go for the 4". If it is going to be your daily driver or you have another for wheelin then go for the 2.5". This kit will work for minor trails or mud which is what I use mine for. I paid to much $ to put mine through that much pain. Come on guys, you act as though these things are trucks
Oh Yeah, if my wife got h*rny from the rough ride then I would remove the springs!
