Last week I posted re: clock staying on and windows operating without key on or in ignition. Unplugged batteries overnight and thought problem solved. It's back. Can even pull radio fuse and clock light stays on. I can start and drive, come back and park and all is OK. Several hours later the clock light comes back on . Again the windows will operate without key on or in ignition. Appreciate any thoughts or ideas. (Light brings batteries down from 12.65 gravity to 12.20 gravity overnight) Have ordered battery disconnects but would still like to fix. Thanks Calli
Okay good news and bad news. Pretty sure I got it figured out, now lets hope you can follow my logic
According to schematic, the Generic Electronic Module (GEM) controls the ACC DELAY RELAY, (Relay 5, bottom left, in the cab) If you bypass the relay, I jumpered it just to check, the windows will operate. The only thing that I could not get to happen is the clock to stay on on the radio. Was able to get it to turn on by turning on the lights for a bit, but after I turned them off, the clock went away shortly after. Looked through the manual to see what fuses go the the GEM, the only two that are obvious are fuse 15&19 (inside cab).
With that said, double check fuses 15&19; Swap (in cab) Relay 3 with Relay 5, if the horn starts honking then the relay is bad, probable cause of problem.
However, don't think either one of those is the case. Think it is a problem with the GEM or the wiring to the GEM. That is the bad news, probably not cheap if you have to replace the GEM. I tried looking to see where the GEM is located, but was not able to find it.
Hopefully, this will help. You may be able to remove relay 5, rather than having to disconnect batteries over night until problem is fixed. But I would double check with the meter to make sure there is not a drain on it.
Mike, Thanks for the info. I did fool around with relay 5 this am but did not swap. I will try. I did find that Ford has a service bulletin(#12177) regarding this problem. Also under NHYSA#613230. I have requested documents. Snowing big time now so will probably wait until tomorrow to try swap. Will keep you posted. Thanks again, Carroll Allison

FYI, I switched relays this am. No change. Then I removed fuse # 15, no change. Removed fuse #19, reinserted and the clock light went off. That was 3 hrs ago and still holding??? The fuse was good? Anyway thanks again for your help. Will keep you posted, Carroll
