93 mph max on mine, isn't it the governer on the deisel? I've never really paid any attention to what rpm it is at max speed. Don't know if I would want to go any faster in the big beast anyway, so it's probably a good thing for me!

Has nothing to do with the tranny - it's the PCM speed limiter. You can buy a chip or programmer to override/ignore it.

tim01 Markmoore is correct in saying it is the PCM. An after market chip or tuner will take care of that it you want. I have a super chip in my X. Even with it don't expect leaps and bounds in top speed. I have sunk my speedometer past 105 so not really sure how fast I was going. Now that I am lifter up 75 - 80 is nice cruising and every so ofter a quick 95 is needed but don't feel to confortable if I ever had to manuever.

I believe the factory speed limiter is to insure you won't go faster than the load-range E tires are speed-rated at.

If you want to go 95mph in an Ex..Good Luck...Move into the middle fast lanes and go 75-80mph..

The Ex is no corvette..

bigger tires also helps, I did not adjust the speedo and it is 9% off meaning I am going 9% faster than it shows at all times, I have yet to hit the limiter but had the speedo to about 93, gps said we were at 102. Cool, but still could not keep up with others that time...also could not afford to keep it there, about 8mpg probably

And yet we complain about fuel mileage HMMMMM! And yes, it is the computer speed limiter. Chip will fix the issue.

How fast do you think you can get a 8,000 pounds truck with no speed limiter to go?

90 mph+ ? When you crash, you should get murder one.

If you need to drive more than 10 mph over the speed limit, I'd appreciate it if you would build and travel on your own personal freeways. I have children.

Why are you weighing in at 8,000 pounds?

Va,

I hit the scales 2 weeks ago. Me, wife, 2 young daughters (under 10), 44 gallons of gas, front receiver added, rear Hellwig added, air bags added, firewood for camping, some "stuff" for the kids, small cooler of iced down beer for when we are setting up camp...certified scale ticket 7980#!!! And that is BEFORE putting the tongue weight on this thing!!! I can show you the ticket if I scan it in...haven't done that yet...

I have an XLT to boot...no butt wiping options inside...just cloth seats!!!...so 8000#'s as loaded with a family and camping "stuff" is not uncommon for these monsters!

joe.

All Diesel X's will have a limiter. Now a V-10 will go much faster in top end. All I can say about this discussion is anyone "driving" faster then 80 mph in a X beast should really think twice. All it would take is a swerve, someone to cut in front of you or a blow out and your risking your life, possibly your families as well as other inncoent people on the road. If I am traveling on a trip and nobody is on the road I will cruise at 75-80. Otherwise when kids and wife are on board I don't go above 70 and move to middle lane. My wife used to tell me I was alwasy driving too slow until she finally got on board and took the wheel. 80 is more then enough. Let' snot speed around and get in any unnecessary accidents. All X owners are already frowned upon for our size.
