Anyhow. when designing a four link suspension you figure for anti-squat. This is the rise of the rear end under load and the resultant change in pinion angle. It can be measured in percent so maybe that would include power loss.

Sig change is only temp, until I can come up with one to offend the masses, but your description is Very good. On our circle track cars, we use what we call a "bird cage mount " (the gold thing) the inner race slides over the axle tube and is locked down, but the axle is still allowed to "float" in the cage housing, a lot of drivers don't like the setup, because it gives you a "loose" feeling even when your not...
The spring is not absorbing the power, it is storing it to be returned later as it unwinds when the torque/horsepower diminish. So you do not really lose it, you just delay it doing work.
You are probably loosing 4 times as much turning all the extra gears in the tranny.
I overcame this problem by running two turbocharged 7.3 IDI propane injected motor in mine.
Yeti.. on that picture.. just a few things I don't understand. The gold thingy (technical name) allows the axle to "float" inside of it.. correct? Now does this mean that it can rotate inside of it, and if so what keeps it located to keep the axle from just twisting and snaping the driveshaft right off? . I guess i don't aunderstand the setup much and am just curiou.. always wanting to learn... also, what is a safety bushing on the coilover deal that cwb was talking about?

If you look at the Diff (magnesuim by the way) you will see we run a tourqe arm, which runs to the mid point of the chassis.
That keeps the axle from rolling over, also we run a adjustable panhard bar, that is able to slide up and down on the pipe that is bending down behind the shock.
