Going to be running 325/80R16's with 16x10 rims on a 67-72 F250 4WD. they come usually with 4.11's but i will be doing alot of freeway driving with some heavy towing at highway speeds and some mild off-roading. should i go up? if so, how high should i go? i was thinking 4.56's front and rear, what do you guys think? higher? lower? i am not too worried about gas mileage (who is with these bad boys???) I don't, however, want my RPM's skyrocketing when i am cruising down the freeways at 75 mph. Any ideas???
Just FYI (i just figured out this dang metric tire system myself!) the 325/80R16's equal roughly to 37x13.50R16's. any light you guys could shed would be more than welcome!!
Iwould go 4.56 or 4.88 with 37's, 4.88 if you will be towing. You want an equivalent ratio to 4.10 with stock tires for towing. Go to www.ring-pinion.com to use their calculator for tire size/gear ratio/rpms. Stock tire size is probably ~31".
