Self recovery

Anyone know any ways to get out once your in? Beside a winch, cause i dont have one. All i have is a rope, strap, and a come-along. I know you can bury the spare and try to use that as an anchor. Any other tricks?? Even stuff that sounds "ify". When im stuck i will try about anything.

Dig, dig, dig. I always carry two small shovels and lots of cribbing(2x6 boards and such). Dig it out, make a ramp with your boards.
If your in sand as I see by your location, carry the boards and shovels, but also a bucket. Wetting down sand a little is a good start to getting out. Airing down is always a plus when nothing else works.
Burying the tire, never seen that tried.

get creative as hell! look around i would imagine there are a million tools you could use to get out! just gotta think outside the box! after an experience like this i would suggest getting (if nothing else) hi-lift, ****** block, and a couple of high grade chains!

are there any trees around or any other anchor point? I know I have gotten myself out by running a rope through one of the holes in my rear wheel. then you tie a good know to make a loop. attach the other end to the anchor point. then very carefully (you have to keep an eye on it in case it starts to slip off) put the truck in reverse and wind the rope around your tire.....like a winch does! This does work very well if done right! but you have to keep an eye on it or it will not have any problems slipping off!

goodluck

i have often wondered what i would do when pointed in the wrong direction from my winch, or if my cable won't reach anything. they make this ancor thing called a pull pall made to go into dirt and dig in, but they are pricey. only thing i can think of would be a two ****** block system with one off the side from the winch then one straght back, then one to the back ancor point of the truck, and then winch myself backwards. haven't tried it yet, but i think it would work. any other ideas for points to winch from? i have heard about digging a hole and the putting a spare tide in ther and fill the hole and pray it holds!

You can get a tow hitch mounted to the front of your truck, and mount your winch on the reciver mount. Easliy moved front to back.

Best way to learn is to bury it and figure out how to get out. We can tell you a million ways to extract a vehicle but each time is a different senario that requires something different each time. The best people at extracting vehicles are those that have been burried a lot.

Yeah, thats true. For now ill just stick with taking other trucks with me, at least til it warms up. I have a 3.5 foot jack. And i guess i should throw a shovel in the tool box.

Thous pull pals are really cool, but quite expensive. And i dont have a winch anyways.

With my dads truck (79 F-250 4x2) i got buried in the sand. My step brother and i dug and dug. Then we took the tailgate off and laid it under the tires. That gave us extra taction so we could get out.

Tow hooks front and rear so if someone pulls you, there is something to attach the cable to.

For self recovery, a high lift jack and 2x10 pressure treated wood will get you out of a lot of bad situations. So will a good floor jack and a long handled spade shovel.
