Cool speedometer

I need some help with a speedometer repair. My 1965 Custom Cab has the sweep-style speedometer, and lately it seems to swing back and forth at low speeds, but then gets pretty still at higher speeds (50+). Even though I don't look at it that much, it is still an annoying problem. Any ideas/help would be great (especially BEFORE I screw anything up)! Thanks again!

Mine sorta does the same thing, say within 5 MPH.

I'm thinking we may need to lube the cable as it may be sticking a bit. Used to use powered graphite for this, but sure whats best now days.

I can be 2 different problems. Disconnect both ends of the cable and check the internal core. You can pull it right out of the outer jacket. If it doesn't have any kinks or frays, lube it up good with graphite or WD 40 and reinstall. The speedo head could also be dry. Remove it and check how free it spins by hand. I think it will be the cable, not the head.
