Another Diesel Emblem Question?
On the doors of the 99 through the last of the 7.3's in 03, what year are the Super Dutys that are the ones that have the emblems trimmed with the Red lines underneath where it says "PowerStroke"? My 02 emblem does not have any Red on it at all. Just curious as this is the second thing I look at when I see a SD...the first is the good lookin gal driving it

Cat_Man_963...The new badges on the 6.0's have Red on them and also refer to it being a "Turbo" where the older PSD's don't say a thing about a "Turbo" and I'm sure I've seen some of these badges with Red on them. They must be before the 02's came out as like I mentioned, mine has no Red at all. 99, 00, 01's???, must be one of them.

My buddy just bought an '04 PSD. He said that the guys at the dealership told him that the red indicates that the motor was made by International, while the black or chrome is made by Detroit. I always thought that all PSD's were International, but now I am not sure. I have been paying close attention now that I have heard that and have noticed that it doesn't seem to matter what year it is, there is "black" and red emblems. My 2000 is red, but my buddy's 99.5 is black. Let me know if anyone knows the "mystery" behind this.

My build date is 11/98. My emblem is red under the POWERSTROKE word and then reads DIESEL V8. Ihave been told some different things when trying to order aftermarket parts. I tried to order an intake w/ cone filter and was told it would not work on my truck because build date was before 5/99. They said thats when the 1/2 yrs where made. but my intake is just like my friends '00.

I'm pretty sure that the 99s and 00's have the red lines and the 01'-03' have the silver lines.

ok heres the word on the emblems
if a new generation super duty has the diesel emblem on the front quarter panel just like the gas motors then it is the old PSD motor. build date 98-6/99 typicaly
if there is the diesel emblem on the door and it has red trim then it is 99.5-01 truck
if there is the diesel emblem with silver trim then it is 02-03 7.3L diesel
and if it the new design and has red trim and says turbo then it is the 6.0L diesel 03-04
