Autolite 4300 float adjustment

Hi guys,
Does anyone have any tips as to how to correctly set the float level in an Autolite 4300? This is my 2nd rebuild, my first one had the same problem. I have gas coming out of the bowl vents. The car runs fine, excellent even, but gas is spurting out of the top of the bowl vent tubes. I am guessing I have the float level seet incorrectly or maybe the float is hanging up on something when I install it back into the body.

At any rate...whats the easiest way to adjust the float? I got the measurements for my app and it says Primary should be 1/16" and the auxillary should be 49/64" . I have set those correctly but I still got gas flying out of the top of my carb. Anyone have any suggestions? I am in dire need of help. If someone is i n Arlington, VA or close by I will pay to have someone get my float adjusted right. I have to move my car shortly and I really am not tyring to buy a whole new carb just because I cant get the float adjusted right

if the measurements are correct , i would think something else would be the problem , those measurements are hard to get wrong. have you checked the needle and seat , iv had them fall out and not realize it untill i saw them in the bottom of the bowl,or is the float itself not all the way on the rod ? bob

Thanks for your reply! I had someone else recommend that I buy a new float. Ill try that and if that doesnt work I guess Ill wind up buying a whole new carb. Does anyone in the DC area have any carbs for sell or is willing to setr my float?? I can bring it to you and im willing to pay to get the float adjusted right...

Re: Autolite 4300 float adjustment

I checked the needle and seat, threyre fine. No dirt or anything out of the ordinary there. I am going to order a new float today. If that doesnt get it I see AutoZone has new 4300s for $150. Ill probably buy one of those. Is there anyone on here in the DC area trying to sell an old 4300??
