Does anyone know of a good web-site that can tell the consumer what recalls have occured with the 2003 6.0? I went to the NHSTA web-site and that was a typical government joke of a web-page. I have a 2003 6.0 that had the internal oil pump die while on the road. When it died the whole truck shut down with no power. If I was in the travel lanes I would have been hit. As it was, I was in the merge lane and managed to move it to the break down lane. The truck has 7800 miles. That was Monday FEB 09 and it is now the 12th and I am still without a truck. Has anyone else had an oil pump go on them? The dealership here in San Diego says that they have to call the Ford Hot Line because, and I am quoting, "they don't know what to do with the truck". The mech says that the truck had no oil pressure. He has to take off the valve covers to test the engine pressure. He says that is not a major deal. I told him that having to peel the valve covers off at 7800 miles is a major deal. I am presently looking over the Lemon law in CA in case this becomes a common occurance.
That link brings you to the NHTSA page. It is not up to date. When I called Ford to order my DSB paperwork the CSR told me that there was an emmisions sensor that needed to be replaced. I have never filled out DSB forms before so, I don't know what to expect. I am fighting for a new truck, but know the chances are very slim to none. I will fight at least for a premium extended coverage plan. I will not have the truck back until next Wednesday and that will have been over ten days without the truck. As far as I am concerned I am due something. I don't want to own a $42,000.00 paperweight.
sorry to hear about you problems, make sure that everything that was done to your truck appears on you paperwork and make sure you have a record of the wrecker service for your records.

make sure that everything that was done to your truck appears on you paperwork
I'd even suggest, reading the returned sheet--prior to signing for the truck--and asking the service writer to clearify any item on the sheet you don't understand -- even codes.

... note all coversations with date and time and parties involved...
be patient, but firm...
VERY Important.
And as to..........
if they "don't know what to do" I would sugest another dealer... one with a good diesel mechanic.
Unfortunately, if the dealership from which you purchased the truck -- hoping you introduced yourself to it's Diesel Tech prior to taking title--then only take it to one which does have a diesel department.
So far I have a five page letter typed to give to the DSB and to the dealer. I will give it to the dealer because Ford will send a copy to them anyway and I have no problem facing up to them. They talk a good game and always aim to "please" (themselves). So, this is not over yet.
If you want to send that to me (copy), I would edit it. should you want someone "out of the loop" regards your truck to review what you've written. Just a thought -- you know, having someone read it, from a distance, to make word/phrase change suggestions.
BTW, should you feel it not necessary -- no offense taken.
Remember: I will not allow a "Randy" situation to develop...........The offer was made in good faith tonogas........and besides, I don't read any e-mails coming from anyone I don't initiate. Inspite of those traits----I'm actually a nice person.
You should see me on a horse though..............now that would be a picture.....
Statement of fact.................

I'll take you up on the preview. I can't e-mail you from the forum account because I have not been a subscriber for thirty days and the forum says not to write in any address either. So, how do we get ahold of each other. I will even put the letter on this forum because I don't care who sees it. I have nothing to hide. Let her rip.
Oh, one more thing. The dealership told me that I would have my truck back today. I am still carpooling with the wife in a four door family car. WTF? Over!
Hey guys, I got my truck back today. Ten days after it went down. It sounds and runs good, I think. Anyway I jumped in and before I took out of the driveway I looked at the odometer. It read 7989 miles. The problem is when I had it towed in the OD read 7800 miles and the dealership has it on the repair bill. Something else I will write down.

PS. Luke, I rcvd your e-mail I will cut and paste it this weekend. Thanks.
