2002 Speedometer recalibrated, front-end noise fixed
Got my rig back today....the "chuckling" noise of the front end is fixed, thanks to new caliper assemblies, and the speedo is recalibrated for my larger tires! Recalibration cost me $49.95, they cut me a spare ignition key for free as part of the deal!!!

Yes, the dealer did the recalibration. They can not do it with the "WDS" machine that is used for past models...software glitches apparently. They had to use their other machine...a "NG" something-or-other. I was told it won't work for a "really" large tire, whatever that means!! The tranny shifts at the right point, the overhead computer works right...definitely get it done if you have an auto.
It's also much cheaper than buying a chip, just to compensate for your tire size.

I have an '01 350 V10 w/35 x 12.5's. Dealer did my recal. last week for $38.00. Joe Madden Ford in the Chicago area. Hitch, day service mgr. didn't know what he was talking about, but wanted $150 to do it. Fortunately a kid working there recommended another young guy on the night shift. Walla, done and done right for $38.

>Did the dealer do the re-calibration?
>Can they do it for 35" tall tires?
35 inch diameter tires will rotate 576.19 revolution per mile { 5280/((35x3.1418)/12) }, and the stock computer will only go down to 600 revolution per mile on 2002, (601 on 1999-2001). So you will still be left with a 4% 'error'. I'm running 315/75 (35x12.5) tires, and I had the dealer reset my computer on delivery to 600 rpm (included as part of the 'sale', otherwise one hour of labor @ $69.00. It took the tech, 5 minutes).
I've confirmed the 4% error both by highway 'speed calibration check signs', and using a GPS, and it is right at 4%. Surely a livable 'error'.
