Talking Anyone do LAN parties?

I have the distinct pleasure of being on the staff of the biggest LAN party ever on the East Coast. 256 gamers all in one place playing tournaments from just about every game available. Three day event with big name corporate sponsors and prizes. Yours truly is going to be sponsoring it also with some of my own work in the furniture realm geared specifically towards gamers needs and wants. Got the new transformer on line last night and boy do those big ones Hum! Had my hair practically standing on edge, lol. Anyone else here frequent online gaming/multiplay? The event is being held at a local rescue squad so some of the proceeds will be going to support them. I doubt I should post the link to the site with all the info and registration,, so if anyone wants to know more email through the link in my profile. Oh,, it's going to be held Feb. 27th at 5 p.m. thru Feb. 29th at 5p.m. This is just way too exciting,,, and quite time consuming at the moment . Are there Any gamers out there??

I also play SWG alot ATM, my friend who hostthe LAN parties plays dang near EVERYTHING he has almost every major game out their and varies between the games, his main ones though are SWG and planetside. I REALLY need to get a computer.

One of the side tournies is for C&C Generals Zero Hour. I've been playing C&C since the first one,, just love em. I'm a strategy freak. Starcraft, Warcraft, AOE,,,, and on and on. Yeah, everyone brings their own setups so there should be some wild ones. Have people even flying in from the west coast to play in it. Major tournaments with major prizes are Quake III Arena, Call Of Duty, and Counter-Strike. Gonna be one heck of a battling weekend, lol. Even have a few all-women clans coming in to partake in the carnage. Luckily,, I'm gonna have my new system built by then,,,,

For anyone who wants to check it out,,,, www.thegxl.com .
If this violates the guidelines, feel free to delete the link, Mods/Admin. Thanks, if not.

It sounds like a FUN weekend. My son is a CAL administrator and plays CS and several other games in the central region.

What kind of transformer are you talking about?

I play Diablo II Lord Of Terror, and MS Combat Flight Simulator 2.

CFS 2 is becoming an older game and with CFS 3 out, its dropped a lot. there used to be over 500 guys on a busy night, now there are barely 100 on a sunday afternoon (the busiest).

I don't do anything on that scale, mostly because If I got everybody I knew with a gaming machine together ... It would be two people.

I do however do the 16 player xbox thing on occasion.

We have LAN parties on a smaller scale at the house often, with 2-8 guys usually. There are local LAN parties here in KC all the time with 50-150 people.

Ghost Recon is the game I have been playing online for about 2 years now. My sons do DiabloII and a ton of PS2 games.
My boys' friends bring their boxes over, connect up together (LAN?) and take on the world! I prefer to sit in the dark by myself and cause havoc in the GR world.

We used to have some small ones at a friends house ever weekend. small as in 20 or so computers and maybe 50 people would go. It was called a DLP (Drunkin Lan Party). Quite fun, the extra people just showed up for the party. They played CS, I didnt play though....
It was kept it safe though. Any one who came HAD to stay the night and if you werent staying the night then you werent aloud to drink. And once you walked in the door your keys were takin by the perentals. Never had any accidents.

Not LAN, but I play Aces High on the net, a WW2 Flight simulator that also has tanks, PT boats as well. We usually have 500+ people online during a typical Friday night.

Sorry, most my parties either involve the kids and birthdays, or numerous adults falling down drunk. I can't be held responsible for someone straining a finger or something along that line.

I don't know what brand it is or anything, Torque. It's about 5 feet tall, 4 feet wide and 2 - 3 deep. Has copper windings instead of the new aluminum ones they are using. Three feeds coming in at 500 volts apiece. We're going to be running 50 20 amp quad blocks off of it. Starting to put them together tonight.

I noticed a lot of you play WWII type games but haven't heard Battlefield 1942 mentioned yet. Great online mulitplayer game. You can fly planes, drive tanks, jeeps, half-tracks, man stationary guns, and of course, run around on foot. Should give it a try. I started my LAN carreer on Commodore systems playing Doom. Ahh,, the good ole days, lol.

Can't tell you how excited I am,, this is gonna be a blast. We're just breaking even on the cost. Anything over the cost, i.e. profit will be going to the rescue squad. Doing one of them 4 foot cardboard check presentations. As of right now, the registration is overbooked, but still have just under a 100 left to confirm (pay). If anyone is close and wanting to attend,,,, better get in on it now. Looking like we won't be able to take any "pay at door" people. The network itself is being supplied by D-Link. They are bringing the switches et.al.

I used to have LAN parties with about 4-8 guys. We used to play Command & Conquer: RED ALERT, StarCraft and the "Oh So Loved" DUKE NUKEM 3D! That was the most fun. Oh how I wished that game still worked on Windows XP! That game took HOURS upon HOURS out of my life.
