Just a simple question to see what kind of people are here. I'm just interested to see how far we break the paradigm of everyone interested in trucks or with any real mechanical knowledge work on a farm, a blue collar job, in the auto repair area, etc.
I personally am a precision measurement equipment calibration technician for the government, or PMEL/ Calibration for anyone with a military background (yes I am a civil service worker, please be nice). I'm also an Electronic Warfare Systems technician in the Air Force Reserve. Ok fire away...
I am retired military, Army infantry. Grew up in a junk yard, and have worked as a welder, and in the construction field as an electrition, tile layer, plumber and carpanter. Now I play with my gun's, trucks and grandchrildern.
since last year i've been workin in the tool crib (lame-o job fixing tools and equipment). starting tuesday i get to take yet another respnsobility as our PMEL monitor.
the Airforce didnt teach me much that i didnt already know... working on jets is basically like workin on anything else. they just cost alot more.
i taught myself most of what i know, other than some small things i picked up at my uncles garage during the summer when i was younger. i wasnt the kid who was playin video games all the time, i liked to go to their shop and hangout and watch them fix things.
I do siding and insulation work. Carpentry / general house work, if I could get anyone to hire me.
Seems there aren't a lot of people hiring in January and February, so here I am.
I'm also a Volunteer MT hunter Safety instructor, volunteer Search and Rescue Technician, MASA. Also a volunteer Moderator here at FTE, not really a job, but it takes all my time.

Lockheed Martin 20 yrs.I was a machinist for 16 yrs. When the company outsourced our machine work I got into putting the Stealth coatings on the F22 fighter. The last year and 1/2 I've been a tool planner. I act as a liason between engineering and production on the F22.--Jack
I had my own framing business, then went on to General Contracting. I was also a supervisor/manager for a manufacturing plant CNC machine shop for 10 years. (drove trucks for a small stint too).
Well, I Just made another career change last monday..........
I'm now doing chrome plating.
My dad (who is retired) is in the process of purchasing a local chrome plating shop (Hard chrome). I was brought in early to help with the cleanup/changeover. My mom has worked there for some 30 years as a book keeper, office admin.
Our plan down the road is to "expand" into decorative chrome as well.
