Nice to see another PMEL weenie here! I worked in most all phases of calibration for 3 years in the Navy, then 20+ afterwards. Companies manufactured semi conductors, major storage systems for computers, to precision laboratory equiment. I evolved into quality auditing, ISO 9000 certified internal auditor, engineering technician, technical writing, and corporate training. After tiring of the endless layoffs with high tech firms, I worked for a few years servicing and installing dental equipment! This included some calibration too.
Now, I am in a family partnership that owns 2 stores selling nuts, dried fruit and candy, as well as a distribution route. With luck, I may get to pull a paycheck someday!
Ha, I figured there had to be at least one more out there. I did PMEL for the Air Force for 4 years before working for a depot contractor for two, before getting on with the civil service.
Worked for Signature Flight Support fueling Jet planes for about 5 years. Got sick of looking at airplanes everyday and quit in Spring of 2001.
Went driving a Truck over the road, I recently grew bored of that & quit.
I am now working for a local paving contractor driving a truck hauling asphalt. On layoff till the snow melts though.
i am a sailor in the worlds finest Navy. I am an aviation electronics technician with air warfare designator, third class...AT3(AW) (E-4 for you army and airforce types..haha) but hope to advance to AT2(AW) after the spring test cycle. I currently work on EA-6B Prowlers, but in two weeks i transfer to So. Cal and to work on E-2C Hawkeyes.
Home remodel/repair. Some new addition building. A few pole barns/garages. Cabinet making upon occasion. NO MORE ROOFING!
Rocky health has slowed me down in the last ten years. But I slug it out because I love my work. Doctors hassle me about it, but I think they understand.
Oh yeah, price of scrap steel is up, so I supplement my income with metal recycling.
Equipment Opperator- Excavator, dozer, snowcat...
Stone Mason, Carpenter
and now unemployed.
Can't find any work since I moved to CO. Guess I'll be going back to VT. I like it there more anyway.
