my 390 has a sticker on the outside of the driver's side valve cover...i think it says 6 BDTC, but my 390 runs better when it is set at 12 BTDC. Somewhere in there should be fine, just experiment and see where it runs best without pinging.

Some emissions stickers are available at the online store here sometimes, you will just have to look. You might find soething else that you want also.

6 degrees BTDC is SOP to start with, but I think most run smoother around the 8-9 degrees.

More timing issues

If the timing marks aren't on the balancer, where would be a good point to start (short of replacement?) Thanks

Balancer

I am a little confused. I did find the marks on the balancer, but it looks like the weight has been removed. What is on it looks like a pulley, with about a little over a quarter in of balancer behind it. When I felt behind it I could feel rubber, making me think that its not all there. Not sure what I have or need here. Did balancers come that skinny? The Block is marked D4TE-I. I was told its a 69 360, but it doesn't add up? Any ideas gentlemen? Thanks

Wow you have a mix and match of parts.

The skinny balancer that looks like only a pulley was used up to '67, '68 and later look like the pic.

Not to worry, they all work the same.
