My buddie has a crank he thinks its a 360 but he does not know all I could find on it was a 27 and a 28 stamped on it. What is this? or how else would i find out? He also has a engine block with D6TE on the side of it what is this? thank you.

 

Look at the back of the crank and if it has a halfmoon cut shape in it then it is a 360 crank, if it has a square cut shape then it is a 390. That is what I have noticed and heard. Guys....

 

also if it was a 390 crank it should have something like 1U or 2U stamped in it somewhere.

 

Usually stamped on the second or third, what I would call a throw weight.

Well it has to be a 360/390 block since they both have the same bore.

 

D6TE = 1976 truck engine, the 360/390 are the same casting.
