i was at the junkyard yesterday and i ran across a 67 with an FE in it. i put it in neutral and put a wrench on the crank and it turned over. so i asked about the engine and the owner took a battery out there and it crank after about 2 shoots with starting fluid. he put it in drive and it went. the front end and cab are in good shape but the bed is rusted. he said he would take $150 for it. so i'm gonna get it. but why would someone put a running truck in good condition in the junkyard?
You guys are missing the obvious, a redneck will sell anything for $150. Doesn't matter what he paid for it, its always $150 dollar profit in their mind!! Don't ask me how I know this, I'm not this way but a know a fellar......
i now know why it is in the junkyard. the man there said that 2nd and 3rd gear are gone. but on the bright side he will sell me a working tranny for about $175. it's funny how one part of the truck sells for more than the whole truck.
Maybe the truck was impounded because the owner was dui, had warrants, driving without insurance, suspended license, unpaid registration...and then the storage fees were more than the guy could afford and said the hell with it. Regardless, sounds like you got a great deal!
