gearbox

keep blowing snapring and seals out of the bottom of power steering gearbox where pitman arm mounts to on 1994 f150 4wheel drive think it is gearbox can anyone help thanks

It sounds like there's a stuck valve or something in that gearbox. Anybody else got an idea?

Sounds like the pressure relief valve in the pump is stuck closed. If the pressure gets too high in the system, it starts blowing seals. I'd replace the pump.

When did this start? Did it do it out of the blue the FIRST time or after a repair kit was installed? I blew this out once right after I installed a seal repair kit. I compared the parts Yhat blew out to the old parts I had replaced. The parts were slightly different. I found out the Ford garage had given me the wrong number of repair kit. The partsman had tried to give me the kit from memory. Everything was identical in the two kits but these parts. ( and these parts mounted right in there) Bottom line, make sure you are installing the correct parts for the application.

thanks for everyones help went to junkyard bought gearbox so far so good seems to have taken care of probluem
