I was wondering if it would be possible to convert my 2wd expedition to 4wd?? My 2wd was great when I wasn't trying to drive thru 12" of snow all the time, but now I'm getting stuck everywhere I go. I love my expy, but really need 4wd. Does any know if it's feasible?
Seriously, this would be a HUGE undertaking which, by the time you bought all of the parts, would run you close to the difference of trading for a 4 x 4.
I would have to agree with phil and tell you to start watching the lots.
Your proposal, even for older non-electronically controlled systems, is flat out huge. I have a '68 F-250 and have followed several threads whereby guys have converted older pickups from 2wd to 4wd and the consensus was that they'd never try to do it again. Now think about the complexity of a late model truck with all the added components.....ouch.
I've gotta agree with the other guys, sell your 2wd and buy a 4 wd.
Thanks for the info and the quick reply. I will heed your advice and keep my eyes open for a trade. Even as much as I hate to get rid of my expy, it just won't work where I live.
Thanks again.
