Is there a simple modification to add Day Time Running Lamps to a 2000 F250? Seems that there should be, as all new cars and trucks sold in Canada include this feature. (I know not everyone likes DRLs, but IMHO, they are a good idea.)
Possibly the cheapest method would be to just turn your headlights on anytime you drive. I was instructed to do this many years ago when I took a one week defensive driving course given by the Smith System people. I still use their methods today. Remember the Five Keys.

As far as I know there is not an easy way to add DRLs to your F-250. Ford has two options, both are orderable through the parts room. One is a DRL option only and the the other is for automatic headlights on at dusk and you can option in the DRLs during installation.
Not what you wanted to hear, but it is what I know for sure.
Thanks for your input. I have pretty much given up on the idea of having "factory DRLs" as this project has turned into a major PITA. I have contacted Ford's web site technical help site only to be told that the dealership was my best source for this type of information. When I pressed for more information, I was advised to buy a Helm's manual for the truck. If that is the best they can offer in the way of technical assistance, they might as well unplug the computer and go home to have a beer on the deck!!!
In the mean while, I have installed a set of driving lamps and now use them as pseudo DRLs. Not quite what I wanted, but a whole lot easier.
Maybe this will help. It's really no big deal to install.....
For a '00 F-250 the FORD DRL p/n's are: Relay Asmbly: F81Z13B218AA ($33.95 list); resistor is: F81Z14A601AA ($30.00 list).
The DRL works on the low beam filament (not the high beam). Although I like the theory that the high beam is higher than the low.
If you have the wiring in place then installing the 2 components is simple.
The only thing I dislike is that they are always on w/the ignition. I'd prefer that with ignition on an parking brake set, the lights were off. Maybe someday I'll have more free time and can wire this too.
I TOOK THE PARTS LISTED ABOVE IN THE RESPONSES AND ORDERED THEM FROM FORD. ONCE I GOT THEM IT TOOK ABOUT 23 MINUTES TO INSTALL. NOT A HEADACHE AT ALL AND COST ABOUT $30.00 OR SO. GOOD LUCK
