changing the plugs $$

My 99 250SD 5.4 has 103,000 on it, and it was time to change the plugs. Took to the dealer and for the plugs and fuel filter it was $137.00, $84.00 which was labar. I thought maybe you just wonder how much it cost.

Yes, it does sound like alot. But considering the way they jam those engines in, it's cheaper to pay for that than everything else I probably would have broke along the way.

I hope the next 100,000 is as good as the first

They helicoil is cdheap and easy to do, Most good mechanics won't rob you blind either, did it destroy the ignition coil on top of the plug, that might be a more expensive fix.

If you can't (or won't) do it yourself, then it's worth the money. But you might see about taking your own parts. They are charging $55 for about $25 worth of plugs & filter.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 26-Mar-02 AT 01:13 AM (EST)] Even if the dealer only wanted $50 I would do it myself just for the fact that I know nothing else got messed up while it was there !! Just had to put my .02 cents in ..
