Toronado fuel saver
Has anybody tried the toronado fuel saver?? I've seen it on TV several times and of course there are glowing testimonials. My 5.4 L Super Duty could use some more grunt, they claim approx. 10 hp and better gas mileage??
I need to change my name from disappointed to something more positive, now that my truck was fixed by Ford.

Look in the Excursion forum. A guy, Scott, just did a "test" for me. it is on his 4x4 V10 Excursion. It showed a 4% increase in mileage with a 2% margin of error.
I believe there are better mods....
The tornado is another one of those gimmicks that snake oil salesman dump on the unsuspecting/unknowing consumer. Search the threads. The general concensus is to first get your engine to "breathe" better by changing the intake and exhaust system and then look at chips.
I started with the Banks Stinger system.

Thanks to all for the objective view re the Toronado. I was looking for a quick easy fix. Its' the old adage U get what U pay for.

I tried to get rid of the disappointed "handle" but it is still here. Oh yah, I'm a computer dummy.

About a month or 2 ago, we had a pretty good interaction about the tornado fuel saver and it's claims, but there doesn't seem to be many guys with personal experience, just quite a few naysayers. I took the discussion to an automotive engineers discussion board and asked if anyone could test one or more of the devices out. The one fellow has a speed shop complete with dyno and apparently a quite extensive flow meter and bench. To his surprise, the tornado created positive airflow and greatly increased air swirl. That is untill it hit the carb. The carb apparently all but nullifies the gains. Still, he pursued with tests on race engines that were brought to his shop. Using alcohol showed no gains on either engine that was tested, but using high octane fuel on two other motors actually showed positive gains. I think they were both less than 10 HP and the one was very small (2 or 3 HP.) But still, he was surprised that it actually gave an increase.
Apparently the "obstruction to the airflow" objection and argument isn't valid, but the fact that the airflow swirl is disrupted by the throttle plate is a valid argument against the "tornado" device. Still, there are some positive gains in both "gas" motors he tested. Another guy is sending him an EFI unit and either a salesman or someone from the Tornado or Airmax company is offering to provide any other sizes he might need for further testing. I'll post again if there are further developments or information.

Could this be what these devices are doing?
it. I have my doubts
I just about two weeks ago installed a Helix power tower
and have noticed again in smoother ride at higher speeds
better exceleration and just finished my first tank of
gas and got 1 mile more to the gallon. I know more as I
get further down the road.
