yup, same here. just cause you anret thirty doesnt mean you cant wheel. i got my truck when i was 16, and wheeles it stock for almost 2 years. just this last summer i was able to get some decent tires, lil lift, and just got a mini spool last week. i figure it this way, if you dont know anyone that wheels take someone with you a few times, theyll love it, and most likely want to get into it themselves, then you have a wheelin buddy. and if it a nice day, then there is usually someone else out there that you can wheel with.
You guys are making me feel old. But while I may be nearly double some of you guys's age, I starting wheeling when I too was "young, dumb, and full of c..." so we're all in the same boat.
Winching is cheating. It isnt fun unless its done the hard way.
I guess im just saying that cause im jealous. And about taking someone wheeling who has never been before, Im hopefully taking a girl from work this weekend. I hope she likes it.
Yeah it is. Unless you have a chebby or jeep, then it evens the playing field .
I dunno why this is a question. Why would one not go into a hole or even a muddy road without being locked in, doesn't make any sence. If you know what youre going through, then its alright, somewhat.
ive heard this philsophy before also, the old man keeps telling it to me when i go wheelin.... ....you go as far as you can, then you get stuck, you lock it in and turn around......ya right!! this philosophy only work if you are 60, and hunting. when it come to wheeling, you go ***** to the walls, lock everything you got, even attach the tow strap to the desired hook, sling it in the back, and stand on the skinny pedal.......well, thats what i do.....
Originally posted by rlh Idio, I bet your oldman gets stuck a lot. Does he wait to load his gun until after he sees a deer/duck/pheasant/grouse or whatever it is he's hunting?
hahahah, no no no, we bow hunt, the gun stuff is for sissies. nah, my old man dont get stuck anymore, he dont wheel, although he has a 73 scout II that is in perfect condition. he just goes with me and then when we are done he turns to me and askes me.....and you do this for fun...right? haha, i love it.
***** to the walls is a good philosophy. My friend had an old 2 wheel drive nissan 4 banger pick-up. He took that thing places that would swallow a tank. He just never let off. But he didnt have a rear bumper ( we ripped it off when he did get stuck). He just didnt care about messing it up, but i do, so i get stuck.
Perfect example last week. Went down a 1 1/2ft deep snow road in 2wd, went alright for about 1000ft till I was just pushing too much snow with my bumper, so I got out locked em up and tried going forward, got about 5 ft. so I jammed it in reverse and backed up, I had the chance to back to where I started now but I didn't take it, so I stuck it in 2nd agian and floored it (only moving at about 10mph, speedometer says 40mph though) got within 20 ft of the end of the road and I get stuck agian so I use the rocking back and forth and manage to get within 10 feet of the road, but someone had pushed a snow pile there that I slid sideways into, after 5 mins of smokin tires back and forth I had the truck completly high centered, had to get out the passenger side cause I couldn't get my door open. Luckly I was close to my house so I walked for the tractor and the shovel. It was so bad I couldn't even back the tractor up to it, so after a half hour of scoopin I was ready to go, so I got my dad to drive the tractor and we proceeded to jerk me out, even with me scooping everywhere around it, it took us about 15 mins to get it out and the tractor was on gravel. Moral of the story is if I put my truck in 4x4 right away I could have gotten enough speed to bust that pile, but once I stoped in the middle I just couldn't get movin fast enough agian.
So you got stuck in 4x2, put it in 4x4, got out, then put it back in 4x2, and got re-stuck?? Why didnt you just leave it in 4x4?
lol I bet you do better next time.
No-no, I left it in 4x4 and still got stuck cause I could never get the momentem going agian startin in a ft. and half of snow, I said if I would have put it in 4x4 right away I'd made it through.
Yeah, I do that every weekend with 3 other trucks, but I had no one to pull me out this time on a sunday afternoon. I still can brag about pulling out a semi though, but I burned off half my tire tread doing that, that probably didn't help me either in the snow.
