I have an 82 ford f-150 with with front independent suspenion what is the easies way to get the axle shafts out of the differential. And the slip joint is froze, or is their a pin or somthing in the slip joint
There was a good write up in Four wheeler about it. It should be in the news stands still. It mentions on the cover about a TTB rebuild or upgrade.
Basically the end shafts come out like normal. You do have to losen the boot on the slip shaft 'cause while the shaft will seperate and pull out, it won't do it with the boot on. the stub shaft on the passanger side of the front diff won't come out unless you pull the diff out of the truck. If you pull the diff, don't forget the two bolts on the side. And as they say in the manuals, assembly is the reverse of disassembly...
Hope this helps
P.S. If stuff is rusted togeather, then you'll need the blue tipped wrench... A.K.A. the Torch...
