From 61'-66' what year's came with the step in the floor of the cab and which ones did not? I have a 63' Mercury with the step and I was just curious. Also was there Mercury shortbox fleetsides in 63'? or is mine just a mix?
61-64 F-100's had the step. 65/66 didn't, due to a redesign of the front suspension, (twin I beam).
Same on the F-250's. The F-350's and up, still had a straight axle and therefore the other cab with the step. The 4x4's also got the cab with the step, although I think in 66 the F-100 4x4's had the same cab as the 4x2's. I'm sure somebody will chime in with the details in a bit.
Good luck, Phil
This site will explain it a LOT better than I could anyway. Look it over.

Sure thing! That site has settled more than a few disputes and answered a bunch of questions. Sure makes it easier than trying to explain all that body mess. Good luck on your Merc. Later,
