I have a 2004 Exp with a problem. I'll get in to start it and I get absolutely nothing. The message center in my dash says "Low oil pressure". How can this be when the vehicle is not running? I also did the system check on the message board and everything says "ok" except when it gets to Low oil pressure then it beeps for a few seconds and goes to the next check. The oil level is fine and the oil pressure gauge registers normal. I had I towed to a local dealer and they could not find any problem, and of course it started right up for them.
its says low oil presure because the ignition is energized. Any vehicle will do that when the key is on but the engine is not running because that is how you verify that the guage is working as intended. Make sense a running engine creates oil preasure
When you say absolutely nothing, do you mean it won't turn over or it will turn over but not run. My 2003 with a 4.0L did that to me one time and I had it towed to the dealer under warrenty. They checked it and the only thing they did was to clean the connector pins to the main computer. The car started while they were testing it, but before they could really trace the problem. They went ahead and cleaned the pins anyway because that's the only suggestion from Ford they could find to do, and so far it has never repeated the problem. When the problem happened it was a cool morning, and the engine spit back (sounded like firing through the intake) one time. After that it was nothing, but turning over. It was getting fuel, cause I was able to smell it, although slightly. Like it was starting to flood, but not quite flooded. I'm not sure if there are any logic sequences in the fuel injector controls to minimize flooded conditions or not. Anyway, that's a lot of verbage for little information, but that's how it went for me.
