I just got a call from my dealer - I had put a deposit on an 04 EB PSD Excursion a few weeks ago for one that was slated to arrive this week. Well, turns out that "my" Ex still isn't here, but the dealer did get one almost like it, except the one that came in didn't have transfer case skid plates like the one I put the deposit on.
He said it's a dealer-installable option if I decide I want 'em. If not, it'll save me $100.
So, I don't plan on doing much 4-wheelin besides some snow, and an occasional romp in some off-road trails or something.
Should I hold out for the one with skidplates? Or, are they no big deal?
i don't know if they changed the skid after 2000
but the skid on my X is very big and not thin at all
the skid is thicker than any skid i have on my jeep
and strong as hell
for 100 dollars, it is good peace of mind that the transfer case
will never get damaged by something flung up,
whether off road or on the highway
