Clearing ECM codes

I have a 1993 F150 with a Inline six. The check engine light was coming on and my truck was getting terrible gas mileage (12mpg). Auto Zone pulled codes for EGR position sensor and O2 sensor. I have replaced both sensors but still have the check engine light. How can I clear codes???? I have tried the battery disconnect and the truck still has check engine light coming on. Thanks...

If you've disconnected the battery, then the computer has been reset. Sounds like there's something wrong with it still. You can pull the codes yourself with a paperclip.

You should also leave the lights on for about 10 minutes after you disconnected the battery. Or go for a ten minute drive. You could go back to autozone to have them clear the codes.

If you do the paperclip method of pulling the codes, all you have to do is pull the paper clip out while the codes are blinking to erase the codes. As long as the battery is disconnected for 10 minutes or so, it will reset everything in it - all the adjusted operating parameters and codes - you don't have to turn on the headlights or anything like that (OBD-II is another story, but doesn't apply here).
